Covid Vaccination
Our practice will be running COVID vaccination clinics, commencing early April. Stock allocation initially will be very limited starting at 50 doses a week. Bookings will be essential. You will be able to book online appointments after Easter.
Our GP’s recommend all patients receive the COVID vaccine when they are eligible (excluding pregnant women and under 18yr old’s at this stage)
WHAT VACCINATION WILL I RECEIVE?
The only vaccine available in this phase is the AstraZeneca vaccine.
AM I ELIGIBLE?
This will be Phase 1b of the COVID vaccine rollout. This is largely for over 70 year old’s, patients with severe medical conditions and some occupational groups. Use the COVID-19 vaccine eligibility checker to find out when you can receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
CAN I HAVE MY FLU VACCINE AT THE SAME TIME?
No, the minimum interval between a dose of seasonal flu vaccine and a dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine is 14 days.
WHEN SHOULD I HAVE MY 2nd COVID VACCINE?
For optimal vaccine efficacy is recommended that you wait 12 weeks to have your second dose.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
There is no fee, the vaccine is government funded.
WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE MEDICARE?
People who are not eligible for Medicare, for example a temporary resident, will need to attend a state- or territory-run vaccination clinic to get their COVID-19 vaccines.
HOW TO GET PROOF OF YOUR COVID VACCINE:
Once you’ve had a COVID-19 vaccine, we will record it on the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR). You can get proof of your COVID-19 vaccination status with an immunisation history statement.
